About Mannarkkad

Mannarkkad is a small town in Palakkad town district of Kerala state, south India. It is the head quarters of Mannarkkad Taluk. It is situated at a distance of 40 km from the district head quarters, at the north east end of the district, on the way to Kozhikkode(NH213) and on the foots of Western Ghats. Silent Valley (a tropical evergreen rain forest with an unbroken evolutionary history of 50 million years) is only 66 km from Mannarkkad.

Economy

Mannarkkad is a commercial hub and a base camp for many tourist destinations like Attappady, Silent Valley National Park, and Siruvani. It is the headquarters of Mannarkkad Taluk, Mannarkkad Educational District, Divisional Forest Headquarters and is one of the largest revenue Taluks in Kerala. Mannarkkad town lies between two rivers, and the ghat road can be seen inside the town. It is an agricultural region whose main products include rubber, plantain, cinnamon, and pepper.
